As Poland accelerates its defense modernization efforts, a new platform for Korea–Poland defense cooperation has opened—built on a “one-team” partnership between the Korean government and domestic industry. KOTRA, led by President Kang Kyung-sung, dispatched the delegation together with Daejeon Technopark and held tailored defense business consultations in Warsaw.
Poland has recently strengthened its focus on security conditions along its northeastern border and is pushing forward with major defense modernization and force enhancement programs. With increased defense spending and accelerated upgrades of military equipment, collaboration with South Korea’s defense industry has been expanding. In line with this trend, KOTRA organized this event to promote the excellence of Korean defense technologies and support the overseas expansion of Korean companies.
Seven defense SMEs based in the Daejeon region participated in the Korea–Poland defense business consultations, exploring partnership opportunities with leading Polish defense firms. Participating companies included:
• The Pitch (cardboard drones)
• Weflow (drone inspection solutions)
• NES&TEC (rifle-firing UAVs)
• Doota Technology (anti-drone systems)
• Sensortech (chemical weapon detection devices)
• Taekyung Electronics (drones)
• GSS (radio wave absorbers)
These companies examined potential paths into the Central and Eastern European defense markets by showcasing the competitiveness of their products.
Jang Sung-gil, head of KOTRA’s Defense Materials Trade Support Center, met with the Polish Air Force Institute of Technology and stated, “There are numerous opportunities ahead for Korea and Poland to develop drone and anti-drone technologies jointly. As Poland’s military modernization progresses rapidly, we aim to help Korean SMEs and mid-sized defense companies contribute to the Polish and wider Central and Eastern European markets through their advanced technologies and KOTRA’s global network.”
