LG Uplus said on November 4 that it has developed a technology, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), that uses agentic AI—systems that can judge and act autonomously—to automatically install complex cloud‑native network software.

The companies said the new technology could reduce installation time by up to 80% compared with conventional methods.

Cloud‑native network software is virtualized equipment designed to run like physical network devices in cloud environments. The joint solution automates the installation process for such network software by delegating tasks to multiple cooperating AI agents.

LG Uplus and AWS built the system using AWS’s Amazon Bedrock and the Strands‑Agents SDK, creating an architecture in which numerous AI agents collaborate to automate complicated installation workflows. The approach shortens development and testing cycles and enables efficient validation of diverse AI scenarios.

Agentic AI goes beyond simple command execution by learning and making decisions autonomously. The partners pre‑trained the agents on software design documentation so the AI can independently handle end‑to‑end tasks including cloud infrastructure provisioning, device configuration and installation, and troubleshooting—without human intervention.

Because the AI automates procedures previously performed manually by specialist engineers, the technology significantly shortens task times and reduces the likelihood of human error. LG Uplus said the solution could lower the entry barrier for smaller companies that lack the technical support capacity of large global firms, thereby strengthening competitiveness across the industry.

With cloud‑based network transformation accelerating worldwide, LG Uplus and AWS said the technology has high practical value. In global markets, the shift toward AI‑driven autonomous operations is gaining pace, and the partners view this development as a way to boost both autonomy and operational efficiency.

LG Uplus plans to expand agent‑based AI capabilities to accelerate implementation of an “Autonomous Network,” in which AI independently performs installation, configuration and fault response across network operations.

Lee Sang‑heon, head of NW Advanced Development at LG Uplus, said, “Agentic AI will further enhance customer quality innovation. We will continue customer‑centric technology development to build a sustainable network environment.”
