AI-driven logistics system supports manufacturing AX and delivery competitiveness
CJ OliveNetworks said on Aug. 11 that it has completed the deployment of a next-generation warehouse management system (WMS) at HD Hyundai Electric’s Cheongju Distribution Campus in South Korea, integrating production, logistics and automation systems into a real-time data-driven platform.
The project is designed to support HD Hyundai Electric’s manufacturing AX, or AI transformation, by connecting previously separate enterprise and factory systems with automated logistics equipment and providing greater visibility across material and product flows.
HD Hyundai Electric’s Cheongju Distribution Campus, which began operations in December 2025, is a smart manufacturing complex covering approximately 82,600 square meters. The facility consolidates production, engineering and logistics functions previously distributed across Anseong, Ulsan and Busan.
The campus produces about 50,000 types of power distribution equipment, including air circuit breakers (ACBs), vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs) and molded case circuit breakers (MCCBs).
At the center of the project is the integration of HD Hyundai Electric’s enterprise resource planning (ERP), manufacturing execution system (MES), warehouse control system (WCS), logistics automation equipment and external partner systems through the new WMS.
CJ OliveNetworks also implemented an integrated monitoring dashboard and intelligent WAVE management system, enabling operators to track logistics flows and work status in real time. Standardized system interfaces and user-oriented screens were introduced to improve operational efficiency.
The WMS is connected to a range of automated logistics equipment, including autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), autonomous case-handling robots (ACRs) and logistics shuttle systems.
As a result, HD Hyundai Electric can manage the entire logistics process — from material receiving and depalletizing to production-line delivery and finished-product shipping — through an integrated data environment.
The system is expected to improve visibility across HD Hyundai Electric’s logistics operations and strengthen its ability to respond to production schedules and delivery requirements. It also establishes a data infrastructure that can support further AI applications, including logistics forecasting and operational optimization.
The project reflects a broader shift in smart manufacturing, where competitiveness increasingly depends not only on factory automation but also on the ability to integrate and analyze data generated across production, logistics and equipment systems.
For CJ OliveNetworks, the Cheongju project represents another step in expanding its manufacturing and logistics AX business. The company has accumulated experience in large-scale third-party logistics automation centers and smart manufacturing facilities in South Korea.
CJ OliveNetworks is expanding beyond individual automation systems by integrating enterprise platforms such as ERP and MES with WMS, WCS, robotics and other automated equipment. The company plans to further develop AI-based logistics optimization capabilities and extend its solutions to global manufacturing operations.
“This project goes beyond the implementation of a logistics system and marks a clear starting point for manufacturing logistics AX centered on AI-based data utilization,” said Song Won-chul, head of Smart Logistics & Factory at CJ OliveNetworks.
“Based on our accumulated experience in logistics and manufacturing digital transformation, we will continue to support our customers in strengthening their global competitiveness,” he added.
CJ OliveNetworks said it plans to expand its AI logistics platform capabilities by combining its experience in manufacturing and logistics projects with technologies developed through partnerships with domestic and international automation equipment companies.
