CJ CheilJedang’s premium distilled spirits brand jari has won awards for all three products it entered in two of the world’s leading international spirits competitions, underscoring the growing global appeal of Korean distilled liquor.
The brand’s products — jari Munbae 24, jari Munbae 41 and jari Gamuchi 24 — all received recognition at the 2026 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) and the International Spirits Challenge (ISC).
At the IWSC, jari Munbae 24 and jari Munbae 41 each received a Silver medal, while jari Gamuchi 24 earned Bronze. Munbae 41 scored 94 points and Munbae 24 received 91 points, with judges highlighting their delicate fruity aromas, smooth texture and balanced flavors.
The results were also strong at the ISC, where jari Munbae 24 won a Gold medal, while Munbae 41 and Gamuchi 24 each received Silver medals. The ISC evaluates spirits through blind tastings conducted by professional judges, making the awards a significant recognition of the products’ quality.
The back-to-back results at major international competitions are expected to strengthen the case for Korean distilled spirits as a premium category in the global liquor market. Industry observers increasingly view traditional Korean spirits as another potential export category alongside K-food, particularly as Korean cuisine and culture gain wider international popularity.
CJ CheilJedang developed jari around premium traditional Korean liquor, working with Korean distilleries including Munbaeju Brewery and Danong Bio. The company launched jari Munbae 24 and jari Gamuchi 24 in the Korean market in July, with the brand positioned around the heritage and craftsmanship of Korean distilled spirits.
The company plans to introduce jari to the U.S. market this fall, targeting consumers interested in premium Asian spirits and linking the products with Korean food and dining experiences.
CJ CheilJedang said the international awards demonstrate the potential of Korean distilled spirits to compete on the global stage and will serve as a foundation for expanding jari into overseas markets.
