CJ 4DPLEX, a subsidiary of CJ CGV and a global leader in premium cinema technology formats, is set to further enhance the immersive SCREENX experience for audiences worldwide.
CJ 4DPLEX announced on December 16 that it has entered into a strategic partnership with RealD, a global leader in 3D cinema technology, to introduce RealD 3D technology to SCREENX auditoriums operated by Regal Cinemas, one of the largest theater chains in the United States.
The technology rollout will cover approximately 50 screens operated by Regal Cinemas under the Cineworld Group. The new viewing format is scheduled to debut in time for the year-end release of Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Through the collaboration, SCREENX’s signature panoramic format, which extends visuals onto the left and right walls, will be combined with RealD’s high-resolution 3D technology. The front screen will feature RealD 3D, while the side screens will deliver SCREENX’s immersive visuals, creating a heightened sense of depth and spatial immersion for moviegoers. This integration represents a technological advancement of the existing SCREENX format and is expected to strengthen its competitiveness in the premium cinema market.
The partnership is also expected to support the global expansion of SCREENX. RealD supplies 3D solutions to more than 27,000 screens worldwide, making it the largest 3D cinema technology provider globally. The combination of RealD’s extensive global footprint and CJ 4DPLEX’s immersive cinema expertise is anticipated to accelerate the adoption of SCREENX across international markets.
Bang Joon-sik, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX, said SCREENX is designed to immerse audiences deeply within the cinematic world. He added that the collaboration with RealD marks a significant milestone in expanding SCREENX’s vision on the global stage.
