KT has outlined its transition toward an AI-driven platform company at World IT Show 2026, presenting a strategy that integrates artificial intelligence with next-generation network infrastructure. The move reflects a broader shift from traditional telecommunications services to a more comprehensive role as a digital infrastructure provider.

At the exhibition, held from April 22 to 24 at COEX in Seoul, KT introduced the concept of “Connection” as its central theme—emphasizing the integration of people, technology, industries, and everyday life through a unified platform approach.

The company’s showcase was structured to highlight how different technologies—including AI, cloud computing, networks, and robotics—can be combined into a single operational framework. KT also incorporated Korean cultural elements into the exhibition design, using Hangul motifs to visually reinforce its identity alongside its technology narrative.

Within the AX (AI transformation) platform section, KT demonstrated services built on its proprietary AI models. These included AI-powered contact center solutions and use cases across industries such as public services, finance, and manufacturing. The hands-on demonstrations suggested a stronger push into enterprise markets, particularly in delivering customized AI solutions.

In the 6G segment, KT focused on the evolution of network infrastructure beyond speed. The company presented a vision of “intelligent networks” capable of autonomous decision-making and communication, signaling a potential shift in the role of telecom operators—from connectivity providers to data-driven infrastructure platforms.

KT also showcased industrial applications by linking robots, equipment, and existing systems through AI. The demonstrations illustrated how heterogeneous systems could collaborate autonomously, pointing to future applications in manufacturing and logistics environments.

Beyond core technologies, the exhibition included interactive experiences designed to engage general audiences. AI-powered camera systems and entertainment-linked content allowed visitors to participate directly, reflecting a growing emphasis on user accessibility in technology showcases.

Collaboration was another key theme. KT featured partner companies within a dedicated space, underscoring the importance of ecosystem-driven growth in the AI and network industries. This approach suggests that competitiveness in the next phase of digital infrastructure will depend not only on individual technologies but also on the strength of collaborative networks.

Industry observers view KT’s presentation as part of a broader trend in which telecom operators are repositioning themselves as platform-centric companies. The integration of AI, networks, and industrial systems is increasingly seen as a defining factor in shaping future competition within the sector.
