Daewoong Pharmaceutical is accelerating its push into the medical artificial intelligence (AI) sector through a new partnership aimed at expanding digital solutions across hospitals nationwide.

The company announced on April 28 that it has signed a supply agreement with Puzzle AI for “CL Note,” an AI-based integrated medical record solution. The partnership is designed to drive large-scale adoption of digital healthcare systems across clinics and hospitals in South Korea.

The collaboration is seen as a strategic move combining advanced medical AI technology with Daewoong’s nationwide hospital network. Under the agreement, Puzzle AI will handle solution development and technical support, while Daewoong Pharmaceutical will oversee distribution and marketing through its established sales channels.

Demand for AI solutions in healthcare has been rising rapidly, supported by government initiatives promoting AI-assisted medical systems and improvements in residency training environments. Hospitals are increasingly seeking digital tools to reduce administrative workloads and improve operational efficiency, particularly in areas such as medical record automation.

CL Note integrates clinical documentation, nursing workflows, and patient communication into a single platform. The system uses real-time voice recognition to automatically convert doctors’ speech into structured medical records, which are then linked to electronic health record systems. It also includes features for nursing documentation and patient call management, allowing hospitals to streamline operations without relying on multiple standalone solutions.

A key component of the platform is its generative AI-based speech recognition technology. The system analyzes clinicians’ spoken input, organizes it into structured data, and converts it into documentation suitable for various clinical environments. In nursing settings, a mobile-based recording system enables staff to manage tasks on the move, while patients benefit from voice-based communication tools that enhance accessibility and convenience.

Puzzle AI has already deployed similar solutions across more than 200 hospitals in South Korea, including major tertiary medical centers. The company has also been engaged in joint research and pilot programs with overseas healthcare institutions, positioning itself for global expansion.

The two companies have gradually expanded their collaboration over time. Following a joint research and development agreement and strategic investment last year, the latest contract marks a transition from partnership to full-scale commercialization.

Daewoong Pharmaceutical plans to integrate CL Note into its broader digital healthcare platform as part of its efforts to build a smart hospital ecosystem. The company aims to go beyond medical record automation and expand into improving overall hospital operations through AI-driven solutions.
