LS Cable & System (LS Cable) is making a concerted push into the power infrastructure market for global big-tech AI data centers after securing a multi-year frame agreement to supply busduct systems to a major U.S. tech company, the firm announced on November 5.
The contract — LS Cable’s first large-scale deal since being registered as an official vendor by the unnamed U.S. company (referred to as “A”) — covers busduct deliveries over the next three years for the company’s large data center projects, primarily in North America. LS Cable passed A’s stringent delivery, technical and quality qualification procedures to earn global supplier status.
Initial deliveries this year are expected to total about KRW 20 billion, with the contract projected to expand to more than KRW 500 billion over three years. The company said volumes could increase further and that negotiations with another global IT firm (“B”) are underway.
“Through collaboration with a global big-tech partner, this contract will serve as a springboard for growing our data-center power infrastructure business into an annual multibillion‑won market,” said Kim Woo-tae, head of LS Cable’s Power Distribution Solutions Division. “We will leverage our technological edge and supply‑chain competitiveness to strengthen our market leadership in the AI era.”
LS Cable is strengthening a global busduct production network linking Korea, North America and Vietnam. The company expects that a new factory in Mexico, once completed, will significantly improve supply efficiency and lead‑time competitiveness for the North American market.
Subsidiary LS Eco Energy is also accelerating expansion in Southeast Asia through its Vietnam production unit LSCV. In October, LS Eco Energy supplied busducts to a 50MW hyperscale data center project in Indonesia, and the company said it is broadening participation in large projects for global IT firms.
A company spokesperson said LS Cable and LS Eco Energy plan to build regional production hubs in Korea, Mexico and Vietnam to establish tailored supply systems for each market.
Busducts are systems that house flat conductors in a metal enclosure to distribute large amounts of power efficiently. Compared with conventional cabling, busducts offer lower power loss, reduced heat generation and lower fire risk, making them a critical infrastructure component for ultra‑high‑power facilities such as AI data centers.
