Kia’s flagship electric SUV, the EV9 GT, has outperformed Volvo’s EX90 in a recent electric vehicle comparison conducted by German automotive magazine Auto Bild.

The evaluation, published in the magazine’s latest issue, compared the EV9 GT with the Volvo EX90 Twin Motor AWD across seven categories: body, comfort, powertrain, driving performance, connectivity, environmental impact, and cost efficiency.

The EV9 GT achieved a total score of 583 points, surpassing the EX90’s 565 points by an 18-point margin. The results highlight the model’s competitiveness in key areas, particularly body design, powertrain performance, and overall value.

Auto Bild praised the EV9 GT for its spacious interior and cargo capacity, noting its advantage in practicality. With the second- and third-row seats folded, the vehicle offers up to 2,393 liters of cargo space, supported by its boxy design. The front trunk (frunk) was also evaluated as more practical than that of the competing model.

In the powertrain category, the EV9 GT stood out with its 508-horsepower motor and 800V high-voltage system, enabling ultra-fast charging capabilities. The model also scored higher in cost efficiency, supported by competitive pricing and warranty conditions.

Kia had previously secured a win in a similar Auto Bild comparison in May last year, when the EV9 GT-line (AWD) outperformed the same Volvo model, reinforcing the EV9 lineup’s competitiveness.

The EV9 GT features a high-performance all-wheel-drive system, along with a range of advanced safety and convenience features designed to enhance the driving experience.

The EV9 has also received global recognition, including winning the 2024 World Car of the Year and the utility category of the 2024 North American Car of the Year (NACTOY), underscoring its strengths in design, performance, and safety.
