Global investment in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure continues to accelerate, driving strong demand for high-performance memory products. As competition intensifies in the AI semiconductor market, SK Hynix has once again delivered record quarterly earnings, supported by robust sales of premium AI memory products and continued expansion of its customer base.

SK Hynix announced on July 29 that it posted consolidated second-quarter revenue of KRW 79.32 trillion, operating profit of KRW 60.54 trillion, and net profit of KRW 93.92 trillion under Korean International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS), marking another all-time quarterly high.

The company said continued investment in AI infrastructure, rising memory prices, and increased shipments of high-value products—including High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), AI server DRAM, and enterprise solid-state drives (eSSDs)—were the primary drivers behind the record performance.

With the latest results, SK Hynix's cumulative first-half revenue exceeded KRW 100 trillion for the first time in the company's history, underscoring the structural expansion of AI-driven memory demand.

The strong earnings also significantly improved the company's financial position. Cash and cash equivalents increased to KRW 88 trillion at the end of the second quarter, while borrowings declined, resulting in a sharp increase in net cash. SK Hynix said its record profitability and cash generation have further strengthened its financial flexibility.

The company believes memory demand is entering a new phase of structural growth as AI evolves beyond generative applications into AI agents capable of performing increasingly complex tasks. According to SK Hynix, this transition is expected to expand demand not only for AI-specific memory but also for conventional memory products supporting a wider range of computing workloads.

To prepare for sustained demand, SK Hynix is strengthening long-term partnerships with major customers.

The company said it has completed negotiations on Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) with more than 10 customers, including key strategic clients, while continuing discussions with additional partners. The multi-year contracts are expected to improve supply stability, optimize production planning, and reinforce the company's long-term growth foundation.

SK Hynix is also accelerating commercialization of its next-generation AI memory portfolio.

The company began mass shipments of HBM4 during the second quarter and plans to significantly increase production in the second half of the year. According to SK Hynix, HBM4 delivers the operating speeds required by customers while achieving industry-leading power efficiency and cost competitiveness, demonstrating the company's technological leadership in AI memory.

The company also completed sample shipments of HBM4E during the first half and continues development using a manufacturing process optimized for production stability and technology maturity.

In NAND flash, SK Hynix is further strengthening its portfolio by accelerating the transition toward high-capacity, high-performance products. Its 321-layer NAND has already become the company's largest production segment, and the company plans to expand its share to approximately 50% of domestic production capacity by the end of the year.

To support long-term growth, SK Hynix is continuing to expand manufacturing capacity. The company plans to accelerate mass production at its M15X fab while preparing to rapidly ramp up production after the first cleanroom at its Yongin semiconductor campus becomes operational in early 2027.

Additional investments—including the recently announced P&T7 advanced packaging facility, the M17 NAND manufacturing plant, and the new semiconductor cluster—will be implemented in phases based on customer demand and investment efficiency.

Industry analysts view the latest results as further evidence that AI infrastructure spending remains the primary growth engine for the global memory industry. As AI workloads become increasingly memory-intensive, stable supply capabilities, advanced packaging technologies, and next-generation HBM products are expected to become critical competitive advantages.

SK Hynix said it will continue preparing for long-term growth opportunities while maintaining disciplined capital expenditure (CapEx), enabling the company to strengthen both production capacity and financial stability as AI memory demand continues to expand.
