Homings growth and modernized fermentation products show how Daesang is connecting changing lifestyles with traditional flavors
Daesang’s Chung Jung One is concluding its 30th-anniversary campaign with a message that extends beyond the products on the table. Its final film presents cooking for others as an expression of jeongseong, the Korean idea of devoting care, time and sincerity to someone.
The campaign reflects a broader change in food marketing. As consumers seek products that save time without sacrificing health or meaningful dining experiences, food brands are being asked to explain not only what they sell but also how they fit into everyday life.
For Chung Jung One, the campaign connects a wide portfolio spanning traditional sauces, health-oriented foods and convenient meal solutions. The underlying strategy is to present these products as parts of a single food experience rather than as separate categories.
Launched in 1996, Chung Jung One has developed from a brand strongly associated with sauces and seasonings into what Daesang describes as a “life food” brand. Its 30th-anniversary campaign, featuring actress Lim Yoon-a, illustrates that transition through three themes: health, convenience and heartfelt preparation.
Three films create one brand narrative
The first campaign film, released in April under the theme “The Healthy Day We Wanted,” focused on changing dietary priorities. It featured products including allulose, low-sugar Hongcho drinking vinegar, Kongdambaekmyeon high-protein noodles and Grainbow.
The second film, “The Relaxed Day We Wanted,” followed in July. Featuring Homings ultra-convenient soup dishes, Balance Oatmeal, boneless crispy chicken and Haetsaldameun pickling soy sauce, it presented convenience as a way to create more time and flexibility in daily life.
The final film, “The Full Day We Wanted,” brings the earlier messages together through the act of sharing a meal. Lim is shown preparing food before welcoming guests, with the carefully arranged table representing a desire to sustain relationships over time.
This progression gives the campaign a more coherent structure than a conventional series of product advertisements. Health addresses what consumers want to eat, convenience responds to how they are able to cook, and jeongseong explains why preparing and sharing food continues to matter.
The final installment therefore adds an emotional dimension to the practical benefits highlighted in the earlier films. It places Chung Jung One products within the full experience of cooking, welcoming others and eating together.
In the film, Lim prepares doenjang jjigae with Chung Jung One’s Bon Doenjang and an anchovy-and-dipori stock tablet. She also makes spicy stir-fried squid using a Homings ultra-convenient stir-fry dish that can be cooked by adding water without thawing.
Tomato pasta, braised short ribs and japchae complete the table. The range of dishes connects traditional Korean food, contemporary meals and convenient cooking within one domestic setting.
Linking tradition with changing food habits
Chung Jung One’s product development supports the broader narrative presented by the campaign. The brand is maintaining its roots in Korean sauces and fermentation while expanding into health-focused products and convenient meals designed for changing household routines.
Homings ultra-convenient soup dishes, launched in July 2025, surpassed 1 million packages in cumulative sales within a year. The products can be prepared within minutes by adding water and heating, and Daesang has since expanded the range from soup dishes to stir-fries.
The growth of the Homings line shows that convenience increasingly involves more than replacing a meal with a simple packaged product. Consumers are also looking for options that reduce preparation time while allowing a cooked dish to remain at the center of the table.
At the same time, the Chung Jung One Sunchang line continues to modernize the brand’s traditional sauce business. Bon Doenjang, introduced in 2025, combines Daesang’s fermentation expertise with food science technology to produce deeper flavor, aroma and umami.
Its packaging won an award in the Brands and Communication Design category at the 2026 Red Dot Design Award. The recognition suggests that modernizing traditional food products increasingly depends on design and communication as well as taste and manufacturing expertise.
“The third film in Chung Jung One’s 30th-anniversary campaign conveys the authenticity of the brand and its products, which enrich people’s lives through taste and flavor,” said Choi Hee-young, head of Daesang’s Brand Campaign Team.
“We will continue communicating the value of Chung Jung One as a life food specialist that remains part of consumers’ everyday lives, often in ways they may not immediately notice,” Choi said. “We will also continue introducing differentiated products that help create more flavorful and satisfying meals.”
The campaign shows how Chung Jung One is seeking to turn three decades of product recognition into a broader relationship with consumers. By connecting health, convenience and jeongseong, the brand is defining its next stage around the experience created at the table, extending beyond the individual items placed on it.
The final campaign film is available on the Chung Jung One Foodcast YouTube channel and will also appear on television and other digital platforms.
