Samsung C&T’s construction division announced on January 15 that it is expanding the operation of an autonomous food delivery robot service that delivers orders directly to apartment unit doors, in collaboration with food delivery platform Yogiyo.

Last year, Samsung C&T conducted a pilot program at the Raemian Leaders One apartment complex in Seocho-gu, Seoul, working with autonomous robot company Newbility. During the pilot, the partners addressed key technical challenges required for robot operation within apartment complexes, including automatic opening of shared entrance doors and integration with elevator call systems. Through coordination with residents’ associations and property management offices, they established a door-to-door service model that enables robots to deliver food directly to individual household entrances.

According to the pilot results, resident satisfaction with the robot food delivery service reached 95 percent. Agreement on the necessity of the service stood at 99 percent, while 74 percent of respondents indicated willingness to use the service on a paid basis, reflecting strong positive feedback.

The food delivery robots travel autonomously at pedestrian speeds, allowing them to move safely within residential complexes. Food pickup is enabled through user authentication, reducing the risk of loss or damage. The service is also expected to mitigate accident risks associated with conventional delivery vehicles inside apartment complexes and ease conflicts related to access by external delivery personnel.

Starting this year, Samsung C&T plans to expand the service area beyond the Raemian Leaders One complex to surrounding neighborhoods. Through integration with Yogiyo’s platform, residents will be able to place orders from approximately 130 restaurants and cafés located within a 1.2-kilometer radius, significantly improving convenience and choice.

Beyond food delivery, Samsung C&T has been applying a range of robot-based services to residential environments, including home AI companion robots and robots for transporting luggage in underground parking areas. The company aims to build a broader robot utilization ecosystem that enhances residential convenience and supports customer-centered innovation by seamlessly integrating robots into daily life.

Samsung C&T has also successfully deployed robotic solutions across various sectors, such as constructing the robot-friendly building NAVER 1784 in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, implementing an integrated robot control system at Aju Smart Tower in Gangdong, Seoul, and operating food delivery robots at Anyang Country Club.

Hye-jung Cho, head of Samsung C&T’s DxP Division, said the company is creating new residential experiences that residents can directly feel as it prepares for an environment where robots are naturally integrated into everyday life.
