Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on October 22nd that its ‘TIGER US S&P 500 ETF (360750)’ has surpassed 5 trillion won in cumulative net purchase amount by individual investors since its listing.
According to the Korea Exchange, since its listing on August 7, 2020, the ‘TIGER US S&P 500 ETF’ has accumulated a net purchase of 5.0845 trillion won from individual investors as of the 21st. This makes it the most popular ETF among domestic listed ETFs for individual investors. Especially over the past year, fueled by a strong performance of the U.S. stock markets, a new inflow of 2.6785 trillion won from individual investors has been observed.
The ETF’s sustained popularity appears to be rooted in its appeal as a long-term investment vehicle. The S&P 500 index includes the top 500 U.S. companies by market capitalization, offering a comprehensive reflection of the American economy. Recently, amid robust tech sector earnings centered around AI and optimistic expectations of Federal Reserve rate cuts, the S&P 500 has repeatedly hit record highs. In this environment, both the ‘TIGER US S&P 500 ETF’ and the ‘TIGER US NASDAQ 100 ETF (133690)’ have established themselves as leading investment products tracking key U.S. indices, consistently attracting capital inflows.
Driven by strong retail investor demand, the ‘TIGER US S&P 500 ETF’ has officially broken the milestone of 10 trillion won in net assets for the first time in Korea’s ETF history. As of the 21st, its net asset size stood at 10.4625 trillion won, making it the largest ETF in Korea and the biggest product of its kind among S&P 500 ETFs listed in Asia.
To celebrate this achievement, Mirae Asset has launched a promotional event. Under the slogan “The Premium ETF Created by Customers,” ten investors holding the ‘TIGER US S&P 500 ETF’ will be selected via lottery to receive an Hermes x Apple collaboration product, the ‘Hermes Apple Watch Series 11.’ Additionally, 500 followers who share their ‘investment stories’ with the ETF on the official social media channels will be entered into a drawing to win coffee coupons. More details are available on the official TIGER ETF website.
Kim Nam-ho, Head of Global ETF Management at Mirae Asset, said, “Interest from individual investors in U.S. major index ETFs continues to grow steadily, and the ‘TIGER US S&P 500 ETF’ has earned their trust over the past five years thanks to its ample liquidity and stability. We will continue to strengthen our position as Korea’s leading ETF provider.”
