LG Energy Solution has signed a new electric vehicle battery supply agreement worth approximately USD 1.4 billion (about KRW 2 trillion) with Mercedes-Benz, securing an additional order just three months after its major deal with the German automaker.
In a regulatory filing on December 8, the company announced that it signed the contract with Mercedes-Benz AG on December 5. The agreement covers the supply of batteries to Europe and North America from March 1, 2028, through June 30, 2035. LG Energy Solution added that specific terms, such as the supply volume and duration, may be subject to change following further discussions with the customer.
The latest deal follows LG Energy Solution’s contracts signed in September with Mercedes-Benz subsidiaries for a combined battery supply volume of 107 GWh — 75 GWh and 32 GWh respectively — highlighting the company’s accelerated expansion of strategic partnerships with major global automakers.
As the transition to electromobility continues to gain momentum worldwide, LG Energy Solution is expected to further strengthen its market leadership through long-term supply relationships with top automotive brands.
