LS ELECTRIC is stepping up its expansion in the North American power infrastructure market by unveiling next-generation technologies for direct current (DC) power systems, ultra-high-voltage transmission and AI-driven data centers at IEEE PES T&D 2026.
The company announced that it is participating in the three-day exhibition, held from May 5 to 7 at McCormick Place in Chicago, one of the largest transmission and distribution industry events in North America organized by the IEEE Power & Energy Society.
At the event, LS ELECTRIC is operating a large-scale exhibition space dedicated to three core business areas: DC power solutions, ultra-high-voltage transmission systems and hyperscale data center infrastructure.
A major focus of the exhibition is the company’s DC distribution technology, which is increasingly viewed as a key component of next-generation power networks. The company introduced a range of UL-certified DC distribution panels and related equipment designed specifically for the North American market.
Industry demand for DC-based power systems has been growing rapidly as global technology companies and data center operators seek more energy-efficient ways to support AI computing infrastructure. DC distribution is gaining attention for its ability to reduce energy loss and improve power efficiency in large-scale facilities.
LS ELECTRIC has already accumulated operational experience through its “DC Factory” at its Cheonan manufacturing complex in South Korea, where DC distribution systems have been commercially implemented in industrial operations.
The company also showcased a full lineup of ultra-high-voltage transmission equipment, including 345kV-class transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear and STATCOM systems used for reactive power compensation. The portfolio is designed to support power infrastructure across power plants, substations, industrial facilities, commercial buildings and large-scale data centers.
The North American power sector has recently seen rising investment in grid modernization and new transmission infrastructure, driven by aging electricity networks and rapidly growing AI-related electricity demand.
For the data center market, LS ELECTRIC introduced high-reliability distribution systems and high-efficiency power equipment optimized for hyperscale AI data centers. As AI adoption accelerates across North America, demand is increasing for advanced power systems capable of ensuring both stable electricity supply and improved energy efficiency.
The company said it plans to strengthen customer trust and expand its presence in the North American market by leveraging its track record in local power infrastructure projects and data center deployments.
An LS ELECTRIC official said the exhibition serves as an opportunity for global customers to assess the company’s competitiveness in emerging power technologies, adding that the company aims to accelerate its North American expansion with differentiated capabilities spanning ultra-high-voltage systems, data center infrastructure and DC power solutions.
