Taipei—Taipei—Deloitte Taiwan said on May 6 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Zodia Custody to support financial institutions and other regulated entities in Taiwan’s developing digital asset market.

The agreement comes as Taiwan prepares for further regulation of virtual assets, including the proposed Virtual Asset Service Act. As the regulatory framework develops, institutions are paying closer attention to custody, compliance, security, risk management and cross-border market access.

Under the MoU, Deloitte Taiwan and Zodia Custody plan to work with institutions in Taiwan on digital asset use cases, operational frameworks and market connectivity. Deloitte Taiwan will contribute its experience in regulatory advisory, risk management, governance and compliance. Zodia Custody will provide institutional digital asset custody and related infrastructure.

Zodia Custody serves banks, asset managers, family offices and other regulated entities across Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Asia. Its platform supports custody, transfer, lending and exchange-related functions, and is designed to integrate with existing institutional operating models. The company’s shareholders and investors include Standard Chartered, Northern Trust, SBI Holdings, National Australia Bank and Emirates NBD.

The collaboration will also include joint market research, industry insight sharing and knowledge exchange. The two companies said these activities are intended to improve market understanding and support the development of Taiwan’s digital asset ecosystem.

Chris Chen, leader of risk, regulatory compliance and forensic services at Deloitte Taiwan, said demand is increasing for compliance, security and international connectivity as digital assets move into more formal regulatory structures. He said the collaboration will allow Deloitte Taiwan to use its regulatory advisory and industry experience to help enterprises assess digital asset infrastructure in line with Taiwan’s rules.

Deborah Algeo, managing director for Singapore and Hong Kong at Zodia Custody, said the partnership is aimed at helping financial institutions in Taiwan develop the infrastructure, risk controls and international connectivity needed to participate in digital asset markets.

The companies said the partnership is intended to support the long-term development of Taiwan’s digital asset market by combining advisory services, institutional infrastructure and ecosystem connectivity.
