LG Uplus has partnered with IBK Systems to develop artificial intelligence (AI) services tailored for the financial sector, marking a strategic move to expand its presence in enterprise AI solutions.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on April 6 at IBK Systems’ headquarters in central Seoul to collaborate on AI initiatives for financial services. The signing ceremony was attended by Kwon Yong-hyun, head of LG Uplus’ Enterprise Division, and Hyun Kwon-ik, CEO of IBK Systems, among other executives.

Under the agreement, LG Uplus will combine its AI technologies with IBK Systems’ expertise in financial operations to jointly develop AI services optimized for financial environments. These solutions are expected to take the form of AI agents that can be directly applied to real-world financial tasks, such as credit evaluation and small business support platforms, with a focus on improving both operational efficiency and security.

The development will leverage LG Uplus’ enterprise AX platform, which is designed to enable intelligent business transformation. The platform incorporates EXAONE, a large-scale generative AI model developed by LG AI Research, allowing for the creation of customized AI agents tailored to specific enterprise needs.

The platform also integrates key functionalities, including an agent core, knowledge management system (KMS), and LLMOps, providing a comprehensive environment for deploying AI-driven services. By combining these capabilities with IBK Systems’ financial domain knowledge, the companies aim to facilitate faster and more reliable AI adoption in the financial industry.

Beyond technology collaboration, the two companies plan to broaden their partnership to drive innovation across financial services. This includes joint planning of financial offerings, exploration of new business models, commercialization and co-marketing of solutions for financial institutions, and the development of next-generation intelligent finance initiatives.

LG Uplus said the partnership is expected to bring meaningful changes to the financial industry and set new benchmarks in Korea’s financial AI market. IBK Systems also expressed its ambition to grow into a leading provider of AI-based IT services by leveraging the combined strengths of both companies.
