Stablecoin-based digital payment infrastructure is being adopted as businesses increasingly adopt embedded digital dollar wallets for cross-border settlement and 24/7 transactions.

According to new data released by BVNK, stablecoin wallets are rapidly evolving from cryptocurrency tools into enterprise payment infrastructure for global commerce.

The company announced on July 28 (local time) in London that transaction volume processed through its embedded digital dollar wallets increased 263-fold year over year in 2025. At the same time, payment service providers (PSPs) and fintech companies became BVNK's largest customer segment, overtaking crypto trading firms.

The findings suggest that stablecoins are moving beyond treasury management and digital asset trading to become a practical settlement layer for cross-border business payments.

BVNK, which processes more than $36 billion in annualized payment volume, said nearly half of all transactions on its platform now occur outside conventional banking hours. After-hours transaction volume increased from $2.65 billion to $8.83 billion over the past 12 months, while its share of total platform volume rose from 24% to 31%, indicating growing enterprise demand for always-on payment capabilities.

Stablecoins become programmable business dollars

One of the report's most significant findings is the changing profile of enterprise adoption. Payment service providers and fintech companies now account for 75% of BVNK's platform volume, surpassing retail trading firms as the company's largest customer segment.

Rather than using stablecoins primarily for trading or treasury management, businesses are embedding digital dollar wallets directly into their payment platforms, enabling funds to be stored, transferred, and converted across borders without depending entirely on correspondent banking networks.

Chris Harmse, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of BVNK, said companies increasingly view stablecoin wallets as a digital equivalent of global dollar accounts that remain available regardless of banking hours.

"Businesses are no longer experimenting with stablecoins," Harmse said. "They're rebuilding their payment infrastructure around them."
