Crypto exchange and fintech company OKX announced on June 9 the launch of 13 new X-Perp markets for retail traders in Europe, with the Amsterdam-based platform expanding access to derivatives linked to major U.S. technology stocks, commodities and equity indices through a single trading account.
The launch broadens the range of traditional financial assets available on the platform and reflects a wider trend among digital asset firms seeking to combine cryptocurrency trading with exposure to equities, commodities and other conventional markets.
Under the new offering, European users can gain futures exposure to the so-called "Magnificent Seven" technology companies — Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla — as well as Gold, Silver, WTI Crude Oil and Brent Crude Oil.
The platform has also introduced products linked to SPY and QQQ, two of the world's most actively traded exchange-traded fund benchmarks. These products provide exposure to large-cap U.S. equities and major Nasdaq-listed technology companies.
OKX said futures linked to SpaceX will become available following the company's expected public listing on June 12.
All products are offered on a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week basis and support leveraged trading of up to ten times the initial position value.
The launch highlights a growing convergence between traditional financial markets and digital asset platforms. Historically, retail investors in Europe have typically accessed stocks, commodities and cryptocurrencies through separate brokerages and trading accounts. Platforms such as OKX are increasingly attempting to consolidate those activities within a single trading environment.
The development also comes as European regulators complete implementation of the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. The transition period for MiCA is scheduled to end on July 1, 2026, after which crypto service providers operating within the European Economic Area (EEA) will be required to comply with the new regulatory regime.
OKX stated that the new products are being offered through its European regulated entities operating under MiFID II and MiCA authorizations.
The move may also reflect growing investor demand for round-the-clock access to global markets. Traditional stock exchanges generally operate during fixed trading hours, while cryptocurrency markets function continuously. By offering perpetual-style derivatives linked to traditional assets, exchanges are attempting to bridge that gap and attract traders seeking exposure outside conventional market hours.
According to the company, trading activity in X-Perp products has increased significantly since their initial introduction in May. While the company cited strong user interest, market adoption will likely depend on regulatory acceptance, liquidity conditions and investor demand for cross-asset trading products.
Industry observers note that the launch represents another step in the gradual integration of traditional financial instruments into crypto-native trading platforms. The longer-term significance may be less about individual products and more about whether regulated digital asset exchanges can evolve into multi-asset marketplaces serving both cryptocurrency and traditional investment markets.
The expansion also arrives at a time when competition among regulated crypto exchanges in Europe is intensifying ahead of full MiCA implementation. Firms that secure regulatory approval and broaden their product offerings may gain an advantage as the market shifts toward a more structured and supervised operating environment.
As digital asset platforms continue to diversify beyond cryptocurrencies, the boundary between conventional brokerage services and crypto exchanges is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish.
