Subsquid Labs GmbH announced in Zug, Switzerland, on June 24, 2026, that it is repositioning its SQD on-chain data platform toward enterprise and institutional clients beyond the Web3 market, as blockchain data demand expands across capital markets, AI, and digital asset infrastructure.
The stronger news signal is the platform’s data growth. According to the company, SQD’s daily served data volume rose from 240 terabytes in February 2026 to 1.4 petabytes, representing nearly a sixfold increase in about four months. The increase suggests that demand for indexed on-chain data is accelerating as enterprise and institutional users require broader access to blockchain networks.
SQD currently indexes more than 225 networks through a single API and supports production infrastructure for protocols managing more than US$11 billion in total value locked. The company said several institutional engagements are already moving through its commercial pipeline, though it did not disclose client names or contract values.
New Leadership for Institutional Expansion
The repositioning is being led by a new executive structure. Investor Wanja S. Oberhof has been appointed chief executive officer, while former EY partner Robert Jung has joined as head of transformation to oversee operational scaling and institutional expansion. Founder Marcel Fohrmann will continue to advise on protocol and ecosystem matters.
Subsquid Labs has also formed a new board that includes Davey Airey, co-founder of Boost By Banter, as chairman; Dr. Marcel Reichart of Rezolve AI; Jordi Alexander, founder and CIO of Selini; Sebastian Weiss, founder of RaceBets; AI and crypto markets analyst Jesus Martinez; Clemens Jakopitsch, director of digital assets at Piëch Family Office; and Dimitrii Zhelezov, co-founder and CTO of Subsquid Labs.
From Web3 Data Layer to Enterprise Infrastructure
SQD was originally developed as an on-chain data layer for blockchain applications. The company’s new strategy indicates an effort to position the platform as broader enterprise data infrastructure for clients that need indexed blockchain data across multiple networks.
The move comes as institutional adoption of digital asset infrastructure increasingly depends on data quality, network coverage, compliance readiness, and integration with existing financial and AI systems.
For Subsquid Labs, the transition will test whether infrastructure built for decentralized applications can meet the operational, governance, and reliability standards required by institutional clients. The board appointment provides the governance backdrop, but the rapid increase in served data volume is the clearest indication of the market pressure behind the shift.
