LS Electric is ramping up efforts to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing global power infrastructure market, as demand for hyperscale AI data centers continues to drive investment in advanced power distribution systems.
The company said Thursday that Chairman Koo Ja-kyun visited LS Electric’s Cheongju plant in North Chungcheong Province to inspect key manufacturing facilities, including switchgear production lines, smart factory operations, and high-voltage circuit breaker manufacturing systems.
The visit comes as major technology companies in the United States accelerate construction of hyperscale data centers to support artificial intelligence workloads, significantly increasing demand for stable and high-efficiency power distribution infrastructure.
Industry analysts say the AI-driven expansion of global data centers is reshaping the power equipment sector, with suppliers of high-end electrical systems emerging as key beneficiaries of the ongoing infrastructure cycle. Against this backdrop, LS Electric has been expanding its focus on high-value power solutions targeting North America and other major overseas markets.
During the site inspection, Koo emphasized the importance of securing both product quality and delivery competitiveness as global customers tighten standards for next-generation power systems, particularly in direct current (DC)-based distribution environments increasingly discussed for future AI data center architecture.
“The U.S.-led hyperscale data center market allows virtually no margin for error in next-generation power infrastructure,” Koo said. “High-end quality and flawless delivery capabilities are becoming essential requirements.”
He added that simply meeting customer expectations would no longer be sufficient in the intensifying global market.
“We must go beyond satisfying demanding standards and leverage our advanced smart manufacturing capabilities to clearly differentiate ourselves from global competitors,” he said.
Koo also described the current global power infrastructure boom as a rare opportunity for LS Electric to strengthen its standing in the international market, urging employees to pursue aggressive innovation rather than remain complacent.
“The global power industry is entering a major transition period, and this is an opportunity we cannot afford to miss,” he said. “Securing differentiated technologies that exceed partner expectations is critical. Companies that fail to innovate will inevitably fall behind.”
He added that LS Electric plans to continue making proactive investments to strengthen manufacturing capacity and technological competitiveness.
Alongside technology and production discussions, Koo also met with labor union representatives and frontline workers at the Cheongju site, stressing the importance of labor-management cooperation as the company expands globally.
“No matter how advanced the technology or how bold the investment, achieving global leadership is impossible without the dedication of employees on the production floor,” he said. “Management and labor must move forward together as one team to overcome this period of rapid change.”
LS Electric said it plans to accelerate production line expansion and manufacturing upgrades in response to rapidly rising demand for electrical equipment, particularly in North America where large-scale AI infrastructure investment continues to increase.
A company official said LS Electric aims to strengthen partnerships with major global technology companies by leveraging manufacturing competitiveness and product reliability, while simultaneously expanding overseas market share and improving profitability.
