Samsung Electronics announced on January 27 that it has unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition, a special version of its foldable smartphone designed for athletes competing at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
The device will be provided to nearly 3,800 Olympians and Paralympians from around 90 countries. According to the company, the smartphone is intended to support athletes during their stay in the Olympic Village and throughout competition, while enabling them to capture and share moments from the Games.
The Olympic Edition will also be used for official podium activities through the Victory Selfie, which will make its debut at the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina 2026. The feature, first introduced at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, allows athletes to take photos directly from the podium using their own devices. At Milano Cortina 2026, the Victory Selfie will be expanded to include team sport events, allowing entire teams to record and share their victory moments together.
In addition, selected athletes from participating National Olympic Committees will take part in the Victory Profile initiative, a new photo-based storytelling project captured using the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The program is designed to highlight athletes’ individual interests and journeys beyond competition.
Samsung said the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition incorporates core features of the standard Galaxy Z Flip7, including a dual rear camera system with a 50-megapixel wide lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, as well as AI-based functions such as Photo Assist, real-time on-device language translation, and personalized daily briefings through the Now Brief feature. The foldable design and edge-to-edge FlexWindow are intended to support one-handed use in everyday settings.
The Olympic Edition also features a customized design reflecting the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, along with preloaded wallpapers created specifically for the event. In addition, athletes will receive a set of pre-installed applications and services, including athlete networking tools, competition information, digital passes, and connectivity support through a 100GB 5G eSIM.
Samsung noted that the devices will include access to Athlete365, the official Olympic Games app, and other services aimed at supporting athletes’ performance, logistics, and daily activities during the Games. Fitness-related applications will also be available for use with training equipment installed in the Olympic and Paralympic Villages.
At Milano Cortina 2026, the expanded Victory Selfie program will allow athletes in both individual and team events to capture and share podium moments with teammates, families, and fans worldwide. Samsung said this reflects a broader effort to document the full athlete experience, from preparation to competition and celebration.
As part of this effort, the Victory Profile project will begin with approximately 490 athletes from nine countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
