BNK Financial Group said it will establish a fund to identify and invest in companies and industries tied to the government’s push to open Arctic sea routes and promote a new maritime powerhouse agenda.
Initial capital will come from major group affiliates as co-investors, with the fund intended to attract additional external investors over time to expand its investment scale, the group said.
The move is part of BNK’s “productive finance” measures under its recently announced Regional Economy Hope Declaration. The fund is being positioned to make proactive investments ahead of the government’s planned “2030 Arctic Route New Strategy,” with a focus on building a portfolio of sectors expected to benefit from shifting global power dynamics — including shipbuilding and clean energy.
A BNK Financial Group spokesperson said the initiative is significant for a regional financial group and aligns with government policies to develop a maritime capital, including proposed Ministry of Oceans relocation. “We will continue to actively pursue investments that support route development and our nation’s emergence as a new maritime power,” the spokesperson added.
