GV90 Neolun features pillarless coach doors and advanced luxury technologies
Genesis unveiled the GV90 and GV90 Neolun in San Francisco on Aug. 19, introducing its first full-size flagship electric SUV and a new top-tier model for the luxury brand's global EV lineup.
The GV90, developed from the Neolun concept first revealed in 2024, brings together Genesis' latest electric vehicle technologies, luxury design and passenger-focused features as the Korean automaker seeks to strengthen its position in the premium EV market.
At the heart of the GV90 is the Electric Mobility Prime, or eMP, platform developed specifically for Genesis flagship models. With a wheelbase of 3,245 mm, the architecture provides a spacious cabin with a flat floor and is designed to deliver the ride comfort and performance expected from a full-size luxury SUV.
Genesis equipped the GV90 with a 123.5-kWh high-voltage battery, the largest battery capacity used in a Hyundai Motor Group electric vehicle. The seven-seat GV90 offers an estimated driving range of 500 km on a single charge based on the company's internal testing.
Using a 350-kW fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 22 minutes.
The electric powertrain produces a combined maximum output of 490 kW and maximum torque of 800 Nm from its front and rear motors. The GV90 also introduces dual electronic limited-slip differentials, or e-LSDs, along with multi-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering.
The GV90 Neolun further differentiates itself with what Genesis calls the “Neolun Arch Gate,” a coach-door system featuring independently operated front and rear doors without a conventional B-pillar.
To maintain structural integrity despite eliminating the B-pillar, Genesis incorporated ultra-high-strength dual steel beams inside the doors and a reinforced body structure. The company said the design achieves collision safety performance comparable to vehicles equipped with conventional B-pillars.
Safety technologies include a 12-airbag system and a roof airbag designed to deploy across the glass roof during a rollover. Genesis also applied Thermal Runaway Protection technology to help prevent heat from spreading between individual battery cells.
Inside, the GV90 features a pop-up OLED cinematic display and Hyundai Motor Group's next-generation Pleos Connect infotainment platform. The system also incorporates the Gleo AI in-vehicle artificial intelligence agent, enabling occupants to control vehicle functions and search for information through natural-language interaction.
The GV90 Neolun Executive Suite further emphasizes the vehicle's chauffeur-driven luxury positioning, offering electrically operated swiveling front seats, premium rear seating and features inspired by Korea's traditional ondol heating system.
Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung said the GV90 represents Genesis' vision for the future of luxury, combining innovation in technology, design and customer experience.
With the GV90 positioned at the top of its portfolio, Genesis is moving beyond simply expanding its EV lineup. The model serves as a technology and design flagship as the Korean luxury brand enters a new phase of competition in the global premium electric vehicle market.
