Samsung C&T’s construction division has entered into a strategic partnership with the Korea Power Exchange to expand the global reach of Korea’s energy management system (EMS) technology.
The company announced on April 13 that it will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Power Exchange to collaborate on the demonstration, advancement, and commercialization of EMS technologies, as well as to pursue joint expansion into international markets.
Power systems, which encompass the entire process from electricity generation to transmission and consumption, are considered critical infrastructure. As demand for stable and efficient energy supply grows, the importance of advanced management systems has become increasingly prominent.
EMS plays a central role in this ecosystem by enabling real-time monitoring of power facilities, remote control of grid operations, and data-driven analysis of system performance. The technology supports both efficient electricity production and stable supply.
Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to jointly develop and validate new EMS-related applications. A key focus will be on testing the system in real-world overseas grid environments to establish commercial models and accelerate entry into global markets.
Samsung C&T is expected to leverage its extensive experience in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects across countries such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Guam, and Australia. Its track record in building power plants, energy storage systems (ESS), and ultra-high-voltage transmission networks, along with its global business network, is likely to create synergies in the partnership.
In the commercialization phase, the companies will also explore strategies to expand exports, including securing international certifications and standardizing technologies to meet the requirements of overseas markets.
Lee Chang-wook, Executive Vice President and head of the Energy Solutions Business Unit at Samsung C&T, said the company aims to enhance the commercial value of national R&D outcomes and strengthen its portfolio of differentiated energy solutions based on its global project experience.
