Museum Kimchikan, Korea's dedicated kimchi museum operated by Pulmuone, has launched a redesigned official website as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, strengthening its digital services to accommodate increasing demand for museum visits and hands-on cultural experiences.

The newly revamped website offers a more intuitive user interface (UI), making it easier for visitors to access exhibition information, reserve educational and experiential programs, and stay updated on museum events and promotions.

A key feature of the renewal is the reorganization of the museum's education and experience section. Programs are now categorized by visitor groups—including Korean visitors, international guests, children, and adults—allowing users to quickly find and book activities tailored to their needs.

Museum Kimchikan has also expanded its online reservation system to support group bookings. Previously available only for individual visitors, the upgraded platform now enables travel agencies, schools, childcare centers, and other organizations to make reservations directly through the website.

The museum also redesigned its online content presentation, replacing text-heavy pages with infographic-based layouts and concise descriptions to improve readability across desktop and mobile devices.

To celebrate the website relaunch, Museum Kimchikan is hosting a limited on-site promotional event. Visitors who access the new website and present the screen at the museum's fourth-floor information desk will receive a complimentary 500ml bottle of Pulmuone Saemmul Bridge Talk mineral water while supplies last.

According to Pulmuone, the renewal comes as interest in Korean food culture and K-culture experiences continues to expand globally. The museum's official website attracted more than 140,000 visitors last year, reflecting growing public interest in kimchi-related educational content and cultural programs.

Museum Kimchikan has also experienced a steady increase in overseas visitors. In 2025, foreign tourists accounted for approximately 40 percent of the museum's total annual attendance of around 38,000 visitors, highlighting its growing popularity among international audiences.

Industry observers say the website overhaul reflects a broader trend among cultural institutions to enhance digital accessibility alongside in-person experiences.

"International travelers increasingly seek immersive food and cultural experiences rather than simply visiting tourist attractions," said a tourism industry official. "An efficient online reservation platform and user-friendly information structure can significantly improve the overall visitor experience."

A food industry analyst added that corporate museums are evolving into experiential brand platforms rather than traditional exhibition spaces alone.

Originally established in 1986 in Seoul's Pil-dong neighborhood, Museum Kimchikan relocated to Insadong in 2015 under its current name. The museum introduces visitors to the history, science, diversity, and cultural significance of kimchi through permanent exhibitions, digital displays, and interactive educational programs, making it one of Korea's leading destinations for exploring the country's iconic fermented food tradition.
