M1X Global joins the DTC Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group
Group includes Bank of America, Citi, J.P. Morgan, Broadridge, and Virtu Financial
Participation reflects growing convergence between sovereign digital assets and regulated capital markets
The tokenization of financial assets is entering a new stage as blockchain-based instruments become increasingly integrated with mainstream financial market infrastructure.
M1X Global, a sovereign financial infrastructure company focused on programmable capital markets, announced on July 30 that it has joined the DTC Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group. Organized by the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), the forum brings together financial institutions and technology providers to discuss technological, regulatory, and operational developments while helping shape DTCC's Tokenization Service.
The working group includes more than 100 organizations spanning traditional finance and digital assets, including Bank of America, Citi, J.P. Morgan, Broadridge, and Virtu Financial.
The company said it joined the group to contribute its experience in developing sovereign financial infrastructure that supports programmable settlement and 24/7 capital markets.
M1X serves as coordinating agent for the Republic of the Marshall Islands' issuance of USDM1, the first U.S. dollar-denominated sovereign bond issued natively on a blockchain. The bond is fully backed by short-duration U.S. Treasury securities held in a bankruptcy-remote structure under New York law, while investors retain legally enforceable redemption rights against the sovereign issuer.
According to the company, USDM1 demonstrates how sovereign debt can be issued, collateralized, settled, and transferred continuously on-chain while remaining compatible with existing legal, custody, and institutional market frameworks.
"We are proud to contribute to the DTC Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group alongside financial institutions shaping the future of 24/7 markets," said Mark Lurie, CEO of M1X Global. "Our participation reflects our commitment to ensuring that programmable sovereign financial infrastructure remains compatible with regulated market systems."
Jordan Goldman, President and COO, said USDM1 was designed to fit within legal and operational frameworks already used by institutional investors while maintaining strong legal enforceability and risk management standards.
USDM1 is currently supported by institutional custody providers including Anchorage Digital Bank, BitGo Bank & Trust, and tZERO's SEC-registered broker-dealer custodian. Surus maintains a first-priority security interest in the collateral, while Bank of Guam provides additional banking support.
The announcement highlights a broader evolution in digital capital markets. Tokenization is no longer focused solely on issuing blockchain-native assets but increasingly on integrating them into the infrastructure of regulated financial markets. As institutional adoption expands, interoperability with existing custody, clearing, settlement, and legal systems is becoming as important as blockchain innovation itself.
For sovereign issuers, the next phase of digital finance may depend less on whether government securities can be tokenized than on whether those instruments can operate seamlessly within the global financial system. M1X Global's participation in the DTC working group reflects how tokenized sovereign debt is beginning to evolve from a niche innovation into institutional financial infrastructure.
