LS Electric is strengthening its presence in the North American hyperscale data center market after securing a series of power infrastructure contracts.
The company announced on April 13 that it has signed a supply agreement worth $114.97 million to provide power equipment for a data center project in North America.
Under the deal, LS Electric will supply switchgear and distribution transformers to a hyperscale data center being built by a major global tech company.
The latest contract highlights LS Electric’s capability to deliver comprehensive power infrastructure solutions, ranging from ultra-high-voltage systems to distribution. Data centers require uninterrupted power supply around the clock, making supplier selection highly stringent, with rigorous evaluations of product quality, reliability, delivery performance, and project execution capabilities.
As artificial intelligence continues to expand, data centers are rapidly scaling up into hyperscale facilities with significantly higher power consumption. The industry is also shifting toward microgrid-based infrastructure, incorporating on-site power generation alongside traditional grid connections.
Global electricity consumption by data centers reached approximately 415 terawatt-hours (TWh) in 2024, a level comparable to that of entire countries. This figure is projected to more than double to around 945 TWh by 2030.
The North American data center power infrastructure market is also expected to grow steadily, expanding from about $15.8 billion in 2025 to $23.5 billion by 2031, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.7%.
LS Electric plans to accelerate its expansion in the region by leveraging its production bases in Utah and Texas.
An LS Electric official said the company’s power equipment technology and supply capabilities are gaining recognition in the global market amid surging demand for data center infrastructure, adding that it aims to strengthen its market position in North America through strategic expansion.
