Coreline Soft said on Oct. 24 that Chungnam National University Hospital has deployed AVIEW LCS Plus, an AI-based chest diagnostic platform.
Chungnam National University Hospital, a tertiary referral center representing the Daejeon–Chungcheong region, is positioning the adoption as a meaningful case of a regional hub hospital applying AI innovations directly to clinical care and research.
Statistics Korea’s recently released “2024 Causes of Death” report showed a 4.5% year-on-year rise in cancer mortality, with an age-standardized cancer death rate of 174.3 per 100,000 population. Lung cancer (38.0 per 100,000) accounted for the largest share of cancer deaths, and together with heart disease (65.7) and pneumonia (59.0) the three conditions made up 42.6% of all deaths. Because these diseases can be detected early via chest CT, demand is growing for AI solutions capable of simultaneous screening for multiple chest conditions.
Unlike single-disease AI tools, the system introduced at Chungnam National University Hospital is a comprehensive chest-disease screening product that can detect early-stage lung cancer, assess cardiovascular risk, and monitor chronic respiratory disease from a single scan. The platform is designed to provide patients with broad health information without requiring additional tests.
Professor Kim Jin-hwan of Chungnam National University Hospital said, “Beyond simply adopting new technology, we aim to develop an AI medical-innovation model that works closely with the local community and strengthens our response to leading causes of death such as cancer, heart disease and pulmonary disease.”
Coreline Soft noted that several Daejeon-area hospitals — including Konyang University Hospital, Sun Hospital, Hankook Hospital, Dankook University Hospital and Cello Hospital — and other regional medical centers have also adopted AVIEW products. In six major Chungcheong-area medical centers in Seosan, Hongseong, Chungju, Cheonan, Cheongju and Gongju, AI-based chest screening infrastructure is rapidly expanding under a regional AI medical-system digital transformation support program.
Coreline Soft said the trend signifies more than technology uptake: the Chungcheong region is evolving into an AI-centered public-health innovation hub, with AI acting as a catalyst for improving care quality, reducing regional health disparities and building prevention-focused healthcare systems.
