Celltrion’s omalizumab biosimilar Omlyclo is rapidly gaining traction in Europe, with the product now sold in 26 countries across the region. In Spain, Omlyclo’s market share is estimated to have surpassed 90% as of July, while sales in Italy have also exceeded the company’s initial business targets.

Celltrion is seeking to build on the early momentum in major European markets. From Sept. 5 to 9, the company participated in the 2026 European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress in Barcelona, Spain, where it highlighted Omlyclo’s product features and competitive advantages to healthcare professionals.

Omlyclo is a biosimilar of omalizumab, used to treat chronic spontaneous urticaria and allergic asthma. Celltrion launched the product in Europe late last year and added a 300mg formulation in August, expanding treatment options for patients and healthcare providers.

The product is currently available in 26 European countries. Spain has emerged as a particularly strong market, with Omlyclo’s share estimated at more than 90% in July. In Italy, sales have also surpassed the company’s initial targets.

Celltrion plans to use these early results to expand its participation in country-specific tenders while strengthening its engagement with hospitals and healthcare professionals. The company aims to develop sales and marketing strategies tailored to individual markets and replicate the growth achieved in Spain and Italy across Europe.

At the ERS Congress, Celltrion operated an independent booth under the theme “Similar, but Different,” showcasing Omlyclo’s equivalence in efficacy and safety to the original medicine, as well as its practical advantages in clinical settings.

Omlyclo is available in 75mg, 150mg and 300mg doses, along with multiple delivery devices including prefilled syringes and autoinjectors. Celltrion also highlighted storage convenience and stability, a latex-free formulation and its ability to maintain a stable supply.

The company also hosted an “Expert Insights” session on Sept. 6 featuring Roland Buhl, a professor of respiratory medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany. The session covered the clinical benefits and long-term safety experience of omalizumab in patients with allergic asthma, as well as the potential of biosimilars to improve access to treatment and reduce healthcare costs.

Clinical experience with omalizumab in various patient groups, including children and pregnant patients, was also discussed, along with the potential role of biosimilars in respiratory disease treatment.

Celltrion plans to strengthen academic, sales and marketing activities tailored to individual European markets. In addition to continuing its existing work with tender institutions, the company will expand its network among hospitals and healthcare professionals involved in prescribing and purchasing decisions.

“Omlyclo has expanded its sales base to 26 European countries and is showing meaningful early results in key markets including Spain and Italy,” a Celltrion official said. “We will strengthen country-specific tender participation and academic activities to extend this growth model across Europe.”

Celltrion will also participate in the Global Urticaria Forum 2026 in Berlin, Germany, in December, where it plans to promote Omlyclo’s clinical value and product competitiveness in the chronic spontaneous urticaria market.
