LS Electric is set to showcase its full lineup of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technologies at Korea’s largest power industry exhibitions, highlighting its position as the country’s only specialized HVDC provider and its accumulated project experience in large-scale power transmission.
The company announced that it will participate simultaneously in Elecs Korea 2026 and Korea Smart Grid Expo 2026, scheduled to take place from February 4 to 6 at COEX in Seoul.
LS Electric will operate a 25-booth exhibition space covering approximately 242 square meters under the theme “Seeing the Future of the Global Power Industry on Korea’s Energy Highway.” The display will feature a complete range of HVDC core technologies, a newly developed modular distribution board designed for data centers, and a variety of smart factory solutions.
HVDC technologies, considered central to the construction of Korea’s so-called “energy highway,” will be a key focus of the exhibition. LS Electric plans to present its full HVDC equipment lineup, including converter transformers (C-TR), static synchronous compensators (STATCOM), and valves, allowing visitors to review the company’s technical capabilities across the entire HVDC value chain.
LS Electric has previously secured all major domestic HVDC converter equipment projects, including the Bukdangjin–Godeok and East Coast–Capital Region transmission lines. Its cumulative HVDC contract value has exceeded KRW 1 trillion, reflecting its project execution capacity as well as its manufacturing and engineering capabilities.
HVDC technology converts alternating current (AC) generated at power plants into direct current (DC) for transmission, enabling lower transmission losses and more efficient long-distance, high-capacity power delivery. The technology is regarded as a core enabler of Korea’s national grid expansion strategy, including the West Coast energy highway and a U-shaped transmission network connecting three sides of the Korean Peninsula. Global demand for HVDC solutions continues to rise as grid modernization accelerates worldwide.
At the exhibition, LS Electric will also unveil Beyond X MDB, a slim, modular distribution board developed specifically for AI data centers. Based on global-standard design and engineering, the product improves installation space efficiency by more than 30 percent compared with conventional systems, addressing the space and operational constraints of large-scale data centers.
The company is expanding its data center-focused package solutions in response to growing global demand driven by the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure. LS Electric reported that its global data center-related orders surpassed KRW 1 trillion last year, with more than KRW 800 billion generated in North America alone.
In addition, LS Electric will introduce smart factory solutions, including a Cheonan-based DC Factory that applies a direct current distribution system, as well as its digital inverter ordering platform, Standard Panel Drive.
An LS Electric official said the exhibition will serve as an opportunity to demonstrate the company’s HVDC capabilities and project experience, adding that LS Electric aims to strengthen its role as a key partner in Korea’s energy highway projects while presenting technologies aligned with the next phase of the global power industry.
