LS Eco Energy is expanding its presence in the ASEAN data center power infrastructure market by securing its first busduct supply contract for a hyperscale data center in Malaysia.
The company announced on March 17 that its Vietnam-based subsidiary, LSCV, has signed an agreement to supply busduct systems to a hyperscale data center being developed in Malaysia by a global IT company. The name of the client was not disclosed.
The contract is valued at approximately $8 million, and LSCV will deliver the products in phases in line with the construction schedule of the data center located in Johor Bahru.
Hyperscale data centers, which support large-scale AI and cloud computing services, require massive and stable power supply systems. Busducts, capable of transmitting large volumes of electricity efficiently, are considered a key component of such infrastructure.
Johor Bahru has rapidly emerged as a strategic hub for global tech companies investing in new data centers, thanks to its favorable power supply conditions and available land. Following a data center project win in Indonesia in October last year, LSCV’s latest contract in Malaysia marks another step in LS Eco Energy’s expansion across the ASEAN region.
“The rapid growth of AI and cloud computing is driving strong demand for data centers, which in turn is increasing the need for power infrastructure,” said Lee Sang-ho, CEO of LS Eco Energy. “We will continue to strengthen our power infrastructure business, including busducts and power cables, and expand our order pipeline in the ASEAN data center market.”
The global busduct market is experiencing rapid growth as AI-driven data centers continue to expand. Leveraging its leading position in the domestic busduct market, LS Cable & System supplies products from its facilities in Gumi, South Korea, and Vietnam, while also constructing a new plant in Mexico to meet growing demand in North America.
