Doosan Enerbility said it has signed a contract worth approximately KRW 320 billion with its Czech subsidiary Doosan Škoda Power to supply steam turbines and turbine control systems for Units 5 and 6 of the Dukovany nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic.
The signing ceremony was held in Prague on Feb. 16 (local time) and was attended by the industry ministers of South Korea and the Czech Republic.
In June last year, the Czech government formalized cooperation with “Team Korea” by signing the main contract for the construction of Dukovany Units 5 and 6 with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. The latest agreement marks the first large-scale collaboration between Team Korea and a Czech local company, reflecting the Czech government’s localization strategy.
Under the contract, Doosan Škoda Power will supply steam turbines, generators and turbine control systems for two nuclear units.
The project is also significant as it represents the first new nuclear power plant construction jointly executed by Doosan Enerbility and its Czech subsidiary. The company plans to combine its core nuclear equipment technology with the local manufacturing capabilities of Doosan Škoda Power to maximize synergies. The partnership is expected to continue for potential future projects, including Dukovany expansion and possible development of Temelín Units 3 and 4.
Son Seung-woo, head of Power Services BG at Doosan Enerbility, said the project symbolizes the synergy between Korean nuclear technology and Czech manufacturing expertise, adding that the company aims to successfully deliver the project and contribute to the development of the Czech power industry.
Doosan Škoda Power, a power equipment specialist with more than 150 years of history, has supplied 26 nuclear steam turbines in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Finland. The company has delivered more than 540 steam turbines worldwide, establishing a competitive position in the global power generation market.
