Buenos Aires, Argentina — November 21, 2025 — Cosmos hosted Sovereign Day Buenos Aires on November 18, bringing together financial institutions, policymakers, and Web3 industry leaders for a full day of discussions on blockchain’s role in modernizing global financial systems. The program featured keynotes, technical panels, and live presentations, with speakers from McKinsey & Company, Ondo Finance, the Argentinian Chamber of Fintech, LNET, Solana, Peersyst, and others.

Cosmos Labs Co-CEO Maghnus Mareneck opened the event with a keynote titled “Blockchain Technology Built to Rethink Finance.” He outlined how Cosmos’ technology stack now supports more than 200 production blockchains and highlighted the company’s growing presence in Latin America, where Cosmos and its partners are collaborating with governments on digital currency pilots, national blockchain platforms, and cross-border interoperability initiatives.

A panel titled “The On-Chain Debate: Diverse Visions for the Future of Open Finance” featured Mareneck, Antonio Neto, Head of Growth for LatAm at Solana, and Nick White, COO of Celestia. Speakers noted that institutions are increasingly selecting blockchain architectures that meet their regulatory, operational, and technical requirements. While private chains continue to serve as testing environments, the panelists agreed that the long-term future lies in interoperable networks capable of coordinating activity globally.

Additional sessions explored institutional blockchain adoption, including compliance considerations, the growth of real-world assets and stablecoins, and the need for privacy and confidentiality in enterprise deployments. In the panel “How Banks & Enterprises Consume Web3 Services,” Cosmos Labs CMO Nicolas Poggi moderated a discussion with Andres Kim, Chief Expansion Manager at Tether, and César Matienzo, former Systems Development Manager at Banco Galicia. Poggi noted that institutions primarily evaluate the financial impact of blockchain solutions before considering the underlying technology.

Reflecting on the event, Mareneck said, “Sovereign Day Buenos Aires demonstrated how quickly institutions are moving on-chain. The gathering brought together key decision-makers shaping the next era of global finance and showed how the Cosmos technology stack is supporting real-world adoption at a national scale. We were pleased to welcome Argentine institutions and hold productive discussions with policymakers.”

Sovereign Day Buenos Aires is the second installment in the Sovereign Series, Cosmos’ global event program focused on how blockchain infrastructure is expanding across different markets.
