Celltrion has officially begun expanding its presence in Brazil, the largest pharmaceutical market in Latin America, by hosting a launch event for its autoimmune disease treatment Omlyclo (omalizumab).
The company is gaining early momentum in the market, having already secured state government tenders shortly after launch. Through the event, Celltrion aims to further strengthen relationships with local healthcare professionals and enhance product awareness.
Approximately 80 attendees, including specialists in allergy, respiratory medicine, and dermatology, as well as representatives from insurance companies, participated in the event. The program highlighted Omlyclo’s clinical results, global prescribing experience, and its practical value in real-world clinical settings. Participants responded positively, with strong interest in expanding future prescriptions.
Key opinion leaders in the medical field served as speakers, including Pedro Giavina-Bianchi and Rosana Agondi from the University of São Paulo Medical School Hospital, along with Professor Adam Reich from the University of Rzeszów in Poland, who participated in global Phase 3 trials. The speakers presented the latest findings on omalizumab’s role in treating asthma and chronic spontaneous urticaria, as well as the scientific foundation and clinical significance of biosimilars.
Celltrion views the event as a meaningful step in strengthening collaboration with influential healthcare professionals in Brazil, enhancing trust in the product, and building a foundation to drive prescription growth.
Celltrion’s Brazilian subsidiary has been actively conducting marketing activities since Omlyclo’s launch in November last year. The company recently secured a tender from the Santa Catarina state government, achieving early success in establishing its supply network. With Omlyclo positioned as a first mover in the Brazilian market, the company expects further success in upcoming tenders.
Brazil, with a population of approximately 210 million, is the largest pharmaceutical market in Latin America, accounting for nearly half of the region’s industry. Celltrion has already established a strong presence in the country, with private market shares of around 40% for Truxima and approximately 60% for Remsima.
Building on this foundation, the company plans to expand the market for Omlyclo and other pipeline products, while broadening its portfolio across Latin America to strengthen regional influence.
Latin America is considered a fast-growing “pharmerging” market, with an average annual growth rate of around 7%, driven by its large population and expanding healthcare sector. Celltrion has steadily increased its presence in the region, securing tenders in multiple countries including Costa Rica, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Paraguay.
Kang Kyung-doo, Head of Celltrion’s Latin America operations, stated that the company has confirmed strong interest and positive feedback from key medical professionals in Brazil, adding that it will leverage early tender success and first-mover advantages to further strengthen its position in Brazil and expand Omlyclo launches across Latin America.
