GC Biopharma is set to present new research on the quality characteristics of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) products at an international academic conference through its U.S. subsidiary.
The company announced that GC Biopharma USA will unveil the study at the NHIA 2026 Annual Conference, scheduled to take place from April 18 to 22 in Denver, Colorado.
The research focuses on comparing commercially available immunoglobulin products by analyzing protein size distribution and particle morphology, with particular attention to the degree of protein aggregation within each formulation. Immunoglobulin therapies are widely used to treat a range of immune-related diseases, and as their clinical applications expand, the importance of quality and safety management continues to grow.
Protein aggregation—where proteins bind together to form clusters—is considered a critical quality indicator, as it can affect both product stability and the risk of adverse reactions during administration.
In the study, five different 10% IVIG products were analyzed, including GC Biopharma’s Alyglo. The results showed that Alyglo demonstrated lower levels of protein aggregates and fragments compared to other products, while maintaining relatively higher levels of monomers and dimers associated with normal immune function.
According to the company, these findings suggest that its manufacturing process effectively minimizes protein aggregation, supporting improved product stability and safer administration. The study is expected to provide valuable insights into product characteristics and serve as a reference for healthcare professionals when selecting treatment options.
A GC Biopharma official stated that the company leverages long-standing expertise in plasma fractionation to apply purification processes that minimize impurities and protein aggregation. The company added that it will continue efforts to deliver reliable treatment options.
The research, titled “Evaluation of Aggregation Characteristics of Commercial Intravenous Immunoglobulin Products,” is scheduled to be presented during an exhibition session at NHIA 2026 on the afternoon of April 20.
