S-OIL has officially launched its integrated IT outsourcing (ITO) initiative in partnership with Samsung SDS, marking a significant step in its digital transformation strategy.
The company announced on March 17 that it held a kickoff event to mark the start of the integrated ITO project and to celebrate the successful completion of its IT infrastructure data center migration.
The event took place on March 16 at Samsung SDS’ data center in Sangam, Seoul, and was attended by key executives from both companies, including S-OIL CEO Ryu Yeol and Samsung SDS CEO Lee Jun-hee.
S-OIL signed an integrated ITO agreement with Samsung SDS last year, appointing the company as its primary IT outsourcing partner for a three-year period starting in March 2026. Under the agreement, Samsung SDS will provide a full range of IT services, including application and infrastructure operations, cybersecurity, IT diagnostics, and cloud transition consulting.
The two companies recently completed the migration of S-OIL’s core IT infrastructure to Samsung SDS’ data center. This large-scale project, carried out for the first time in approximately a decade, has enabled S-OIL to enhance system stability, improve operational efficiency, and modernize its IT environment.
The migration also lays the foundation for a future transition to a cloud-based IT infrastructure, supporting the company’s broader digital transformation efforts.
The kickoff event underscored both companies’ commitment to strengthening their partnership and building a stable and efficient IT operating framework through the integrated ITO project.
“This data center migration and the launch of the integrated ITO initiative mark a major step forward in advancing S-OIL’s IT infrastructure operations,” said Ryu Yeol, CEO of S-OIL. “Through our collaboration with Samsung SDS, we will continue to strengthen our IT foundation and drive digital innovation.”
Lee Jun-hee, CEO of Samsung SDS, added, “We will support stable IT service operations for S-OIL while actively contributing to its transition to a cloud-based environment and ongoing digital transformation.”
S-OIL plans to further enhance its IT service capabilities and continue upgrading its digital business environment through this partnership.
