Partnership expands amid rising demand for fuel cell-based power infrastructure in North America
LS Electric is strengthening its position in North America’s AI data center power infrastructure market, with cumulative orders from U.S. power company Bloom Energy surpassing $500 million in approximately 18 months.
The South Korean power equipment maker announced on October 13 that it had signed a contract worth $138.46 million (approximately KRW 185.3 billion) to supply switchgear and distribution transformers to Bloom Energy.
Under the agreement, LS Electric will provide 38-kilovolt high-voltage switchgear and distribution transformers for an on-site power generation project serving a major technology company’s data center in Pennsylvania. Deliveries are scheduled from April through July 2027.
The contract marks another step in the companies’ expanding partnership, which began in April 2025. The growing order volume reflects LS Electric’s capabilities in power distribution technology and its ability to meet the demanding requirements of large-scale data center projects.
The project is particularly significant because it involves the integrated supply of switchgear and distribution transformers. As AI data centers consume increasing amounts of electricity, on-site generation systems using fuel cells are gaining attention as a way to support reliable power supply. This trend is also creating opportunities for suppliers of essential power distribution equipment.
LS Electric is accelerating its North American expansion by leveraging its technology, product quality and ability to meet tight delivery schedules. The company is also developing a localized value chain spanning sales, engineering, manufacturing and services through its LS Electric Utah facility and Bastrop Campus in Texas.
Building on the latest contract, LS Electric plans to deepen its strategic partnership with Bloom Energy and pursue additional opportunities in North America, particularly in power infrastructure for AI data centers and fuel cell-based generation facilities.
“ This contract demonstrates our technological capabilities and project execution expertise in supplying integrated power distribution solutions for large-scale data centers,” an LS Electric official said. “We will further strengthen our partnership with Bloom Energy and leverage our local manufacturing and service infrastructure to expand our presence in North America’s rapidly growing AI data center power infrastructure market.”
