SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 12, 2026 — Software testing company LambdaTest has changed its name to TestMu AI, reflecting a shift in its business toward agent-based artificial intelligence for quality engineering.
The company said the rebrand follows a multi-year transition from a cloud-based testing service to a platform designed to use AI agents to manage, execute, and analyze software testing. Founded in 2018, LambdaTest originally focused on providing cloud infrastructure for running automated tests across browsers, devices, and environments.
Beginning in 2022, the company expanded its use of AI across its products, introducing systems intended to automate parts of the testing workflow that previously required manual configuration. Under the TestMu AI name, the platform now provides tools that allow developers and testers to generate, run, and adapt tests using natural-language prompts and contextual data from their codebases.
The company said the move is intended to address changes in software development driven by generative AI, which is increasing the volume and speed of code production. As development cycles become shorter, testing teams face growing pressure to keep pace with frequent code changes, releases, and updates.
TestMu AI’s platform uses autonomous software agents to plan and execute tests across databases, application programming interfaces, user interfaces, and performance environments. The company also operates a centralized test-execution cloud designed to support different types of testing, including visual, accessibility, API, and mobile testing.
According to the company, its systems have been used to run billions of tests for more than 18,000 organizations in over 90 countries. It said the platform is used by more than 2.8 million developers and testers, including teams at Microsoft, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Vimeo, and Dunelm.
Chief executive Asad Khan said the company changed its name to reflect how its technology and customer base have evolved. He said testing systems are increasingly expected to interpret changes in software and respond without direct human instruction.
The TestMu name was drawn from the company’s annual TestMu Conference, which it has hosted since 2022 to discuss developments in software testing and artificial intelligence. The company said it adopted the name to align the platform with its user community.
TestMu AI was recently included in Gartner’s 2025 Magic Quadrant for AI-Augmented Software Testing Tools and in Forrester’s 2025 Wave report on autonomous testing platforms.
The company said future development will focus on expanding the autonomy of its AI agents, including enabling agents to evaluate other AI-generated software and integrating more closely with developers’ code repositories and workflows.
