Tokyo, Oct. 15, 2025 — As foreign investors continue to scour Japan’s equity markets for untapped value, a new collaboration between Bloomberg and Arches aims to bridge the information gap that has long separated domestic insights from global capital.

The move comes amid renewed interest in Japan’s markets, which gained global attention after Warren Buffett expanded his stakes in major trading houses, calling them undervalued. Yet for investors across Asia-Pacific, the challenge remains: understanding the nuanced shifts in Japan’s corporate governance, industrial competition, and policy environment that often move faster than international coverage.

Arches, a Tokyo-based expert network, has partnered with Bloomberg to make such insights more accessible through its Expert Transcript Library (ETL), a searchable archive of interviews with Japanese executives, analysts, and sector insiders. The service converts first-hand conversations into structured summaries that reveal corporate strategies, regulatory pressures, and market signals often missing from conventional reports.

“Japan’s equity markets hold immense potential, but success requires more than numbers,” said Hiroki Kato, Arches’ chief executive. “With the Expert Transcript Library, investors can validate assumptions and identify undervalued opportunities with greater precision.”

From Insider Perspectives to Market Intelligence

The ETL model reflects a growing appetite for “expert-sourced” intelligence in finance. Arches conducts interviews with industry veterans and synthesizes them into transcripts that distill key insights into trends and risks.

One recent case illustrates how this depth can change the calculus. When Taiwan’s Yageo acquired Japan’s Shibaura Electronics for $740 million in September, ETL users gained early access to analyses explaining the strategic logic behind the deal — including how it might reshape Japan’s high-tech supply chain.

Expanding Access Across Asia

In 2025, Arches extended its footprint across Seoul, Hong Kong, and Bogotá to better connect time zones and deliver real-time insights to regional investors. The firm’s integration with Bloomberg enables clients to access Japanese transcripts directly through Bloomberg’s terminals — part of a broader trend in which localized expertise is becoming indispensable to cross-border investment.

A Growing Market for Expert Networks

Expert Network Services, an industry now valued at $3.77 billion globally, has become integral to institutional investors seeking context that traditional research may miss. Arches, which claims more than 160,000 vetted professionals and 600 clients worldwide, is positioning itself as a conduit between Japan’s opaque corporate culture and the international capital watching it.

For investors betting on Japan’s resurgence, the question is no longer whether data is available — but whether they can interpret it before the rest of the world does.
