Doosan Enerbility is accelerating its expansion into the global nuclear services market by partnering with Korean engineering firm Criatech to commercialize an advanced generator monitoring solution designed to enhance plant safety and operational reliability.
The company announced Monday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with vibration and noise engineering specialist Criatech at the company's Ulsan facility to strengthen cooperation on B-EYES, an intelligent generator monitoring system developed jointly by the two companies.
The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration covering manufacturing, maintenance, after-sales service and technical support, while also laying the foundation for long-term product supply and service partnerships.
B-EYES is an online monitoring solution that continuously tracks the condition of generator brushes—critical components that transfer electrical current to a generator's rotating shaft. The system measures electrical current, temperature, vibration and brush wear in real time, allowing operators to detect early signs of abnormality and prevent equipment failures before they occur.
Unlike conventional manual inspection methods, the automated monitoring system provides continuous diagnostics, improving operational reliability while enhancing the safety of power generation facilities.
The partnership follows Doosan Enerbility's recent contract to supply the B-EYES system for the generator replacement project at Units 1 and 2 of the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic. The company expects the overseas reference project to serve as a springboard for expanding the technology to nuclear and thermal power plants worldwide.
As the global power industry increasingly adopts predictive maintenance technologies to improve plant availability and reduce operating costs, intelligent monitoring systems such as B-EYES are drawing growing attention. Real-time equipment diagnostics can help utilities minimize unplanned outages, extend equipment life cycles and improve overall plant performance.
Industry observers say the collaboration also highlights the growing competitiveness of Korea's power equipment supply chain. By combining Doosan Enerbility's power plant expertise with Criatech's diagnostic technology, the companies aim to strengthen Korea's presence in the global market for digital maintenance solutions.
"The agreement marks an important step toward the commercialization of generator diagnostic technology jointly developed with our domestic partner," said Son Seung-woo, Head of Power Service BG at Doosan Enerbility. "Building on our experience with the Temelín nuclear project, we will continue expanding our generator diagnostic and service solutions into domestic and international markets."
