Samsung Electronics has strengthened its leadership in future-oriented industrial design by winning eight honors at the prestigious Red Dot Design Award: Design Concept 2026, highlighting its growing focus on artificial intelligence-powered, human-centered experiences.
Among the company's achievements were two coveted "Best of the Best" awards, recognizing Samsung's advanced concept designs for Home Appliances Accessories and the Samsung Kids Robot Dremo & Minimo. The remaining six winning concepts showcased Samsung's vision for personalized AI experiences spanning home appliances, digital interfaces, healthcare, and next-generation communication.
The Red Dot Design Award, organized by Germany's Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, is regarded as one of the world's most prestigious design competitions. Its Design Concept category recognizes innovative ideas that have the potential to shape future commercial products and consumer experiences.
Samsung said this year's recognition reflects its long-term design philosophy of combining artificial intelligence with intuitive, user-centered experiences that adapt naturally to individual lifestyles.
"Our goal is to create technology that better understands people and becomes a meaningful part of everyday life," said Mauro Porcini, President and Chief Design Officer (CDO) of Samsung Electronics' Device eXperience (DX) Division. "Through our Expressive Design approach, we will continue developing AI-driven innovations that deliver more personal, adaptive and emotionally engaging experiences."
One of the two Best of the Best winners, Samsung Home Appliances Accessories, introduces a color-based sustainability system that enables consumers to identify maintenance requirements and disposal methods for appliance consumables at a glance.
The concept applies gray to semi-permanent components, green to recyclable materials, and brown to general waste, allowing users to intuitively understand proper disposal procedures without additional instructions. The project also achieved a rare global design "triple crown," following its Gold awards at the iF Design Award 2026 and IDEA Design Award 2024.
The second top-winning concept, Samsung Kids Robot Dremo & Minimo, envisions an AI-powered companion designed to grow alongside children. The system consists of Dremo, a home-based robot, and Minimo, a portable companion that maintains continuous interaction beyond the home.
Parents can personalize the robot by selecting its name, personality and voice, while AI continuously adapts conversations and activities according to each child's interests and developmental stage. Samsung describes the concept as a vision for future AI companions that combine education, emotional support and personalized interaction.
Beyond the two flagship winners, Samsung received six additional Red Dot Design Concept awards for AI-enabled innovations that reimagine everyday living.
The award-winning concepts include AI Beauty Mirror, which analyzes skin conditions and recommends personalized skincare routines; Panorama UX, an adaptive interface that automatically reorganizes content according to user behavior and context; AI Kitchen, an intelligent cooking ecosystem that manages ingredients, recommends meals and assists with food preparation and cleanup; Spatial Tab, a glasses-free 3D communication platform designed for natural interaction with AI companions; AI Home Companion PUCO, a context-aware home assistant capable of projecting personalized information while expressing emotions through subtle physical movement; and Fluid AI Design System, a generative user interface that dynamically creates personalized digital experiences based on real-time user context and AI interpretation.
The broad range of award-winning concepts illustrates Samsung's strategy of embedding AI across products and services while emphasizing sustainability, personalization and emotional engagement. Rather than focusing solely on technological capability, the concepts demonstrate how AI can become more adaptive, intuitive and seamlessly integrated into daily life.
Samsung believes these design explorations will help shape the next generation of intelligent consumer experiences as AI increasingly becomes a core component of future home environments, personal devices and digital services.
