Company expands support from R&D and testing to mass production and business growth
SK hynix is strengthening collaboration with its suppliers and technology partners as the rapid growth of artificial intelligence increases the importance of a resilient and technologically advanced semiconductor ecosystem.
The company recently held its “2026 Partners Day,” bringing together key partner companies to share business achievements and discuss future areas of cooperation.
Partners Day serves as a platform for SK hynix and its suppliers to strengthen collaboration in semiconductor technology, manufacturing and quality. As the complexity of advanced memory products such as high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, continues to increase, cooperation with materials, components and equipment suppliers is becoming increasingly important.
Advanced Memory Drives Closer Technology Collaboration
HBM requires more complex manufacturing and packaging processes than conventional memory, including the vertical stacking of multiple DRAM dies and advanced interconnection technologies.
This increases the importance of materials, manufacturing equipment, testing and packaging technologies throughout the production process.
SK hynix is therefore expanding its relationship with suppliers beyond conventional procurement, working with partners from earlier stages of technology development and product validation.
The approach is becoming more important as next-generation HBM and advanced DRAM products require tighter process control, higher performance and increasingly demanding quality standards.
Support Extends from R&D to Mass Production
SK hynix is also expanding programs designed to support partner companies throughout their growth cycle.
Its partnership model covers technology development, testing and validation, mass production and sales, with programs tailored to the different stages of a supplier’s business.
The company plans to provide approximately 1.4 trillion won ($1 billion) in mutual-growth support over the next five years, helping domestic semiconductor materials, components and equipment companies strengthen their technological and business capabilities.
Support includes joint R&D programs, technology evaluation and verification, productivity improvements and financial assistance.
SK hynix is also building the “Trinity Fab” at the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster. Scheduled to open to partners in 2027, the facility will allow suppliers to test and verify materials and equipment under conditions similar to actual semiconductor manufacturing environments.
AI Growth Raises Importance of Supply Chain Competitiveness
The expansion of AI infrastructure is making collaboration across the semiconductor supply chain increasingly important.
As SK hynix broadens its portfolio from HBM4 and next-generation HBM to server DRAM and enterprise SSDs, the competitiveness of the materials, components and equipment companies supporting those products is also becoming a critical part of the overall technology ecosystem.
SK hynix is extending its partnership programs beyond technology and manufacturing. On Oct. 15, the company plans to host “ThanksFULL Day” at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, inviting around 30,000 employees and family members from approximately 130 key partner companies.
SK hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung and other senior executives are expected to attend the event to recognize the contribution of partner companies.
As AI memory technology advances, SK hynix plans to deepen cooperation with suppliers from technology development through mass production, reinforcing the domestic semiconductor ecosystem while strengthening its competitiveness in the global AI memory market.
