Netmarble, led by CEO Kim Byung-gyu, has launched a new “Global 2” server for its vampire-themed MMORPG Vampire, bringing Japanese players into the same competitive environment as users from Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

The new server opened at noon on July 22 as part of Netmarble’s efforts to expand the game’s global user base and strengthen its cross-region service. To celebrate the launch, the company is holding a series of special events through Aug. 26.

As part of the “Red Moon Festa,” which commemorates the game’s first anniversary, players can obtain more than 1,100 summoning tickets for character appearances and mounts. Netmarble is also offering a 20% increase in experience points and gold acquisition, along with double rewards for daily quests, allowing new and returning players to accelerate their progression.

Industry observers are paying attention to whether Vampire can build on its domestic success in overseas markets. The game combines the core growth and competitive elements of the MMORPG genre with a distinctive vampire theme and dark medieval fantasy setting. The expansion of cross-region servers is also expected to help broaden the player base while creating a more active competitive environment among users from different countries and regions.

Released in South Korea on Aug. 26 last year, Vampire was developed with the participation of key developers behind Lineage 2: Revolution, one of the notable titles that helped raise the profile of Korea’s mobile gaming industry. The game is available on both mobile and PC platforms.

The title gained strong momentum shortly after its domestic launch, reaching No. 1 in sales on both major Korean mobile app marketplaces within nine days and surpassing 200,000 concurrent users.

Building on its initial success, Netmarble launched its first global server for users in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau in March this year. The company has now expanded the service to Japan, further broadening the game’s international reach.

Interest in the Japanese market has also been notable. Vampire ranked No. 1 in popularity on Japan’s Apple App Store based solely on pre-download activity ahead of its official launch, signaling strong anticipation among local players.

The launch of the Global 2 server is expected to further increase the number of international players participating in the game and boost cross-region competition. Industry watchers say the game’s ability to sustain overseas growth will depend on how effectively Netmarble continues to introduce content that encourages competition among global users and adapts its live-service operations to different markets.

More information about Vampire, including the new Global 2 server, is available on the game’s official website and community forum.
