Samsung Securities has entered into a strategic partnership with Singapore-based DBS, one of Asia's leading financial institutions, to expand its global wealth management (WM) business and enhance digital investment services.
The company announced on July 2 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DBS at the bank's headquarters in Singapore. The agreement is aimed at combining the strengths of both firms to provide clients with broader global investment opportunities while advancing AI-driven wealth management capabilities.
Under the partnership, Samsung Securities will leverage its expertise in the Korean capital market and retail brokerage business, while DBS will expand its wealth management presence in the Korean market through the collaboration.
The two companies plan to cooperate across several key areas, including digital client management, wealth management operations, global investment platforms, and AI-based financial services.
The agreement outlines four major areas of collaboration: supporting DBS clients seeking access to the Korean market, providing Samsung Securities clients with advanced global wealth management solutions, establishing a two-way client referral system, and sharing expertise in artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and market intelligence.
A key feature of the partnership is the creation of a two-way wealth management network connecting clients of both firms.
DBS clients interested in investing in South Korean equities and derivatives will be able to access the market through Samsung Securities' integrated foreign investor account platform. Meanwhile, Samsung Securities clients will gain access to DBS' global wealth management platform, enabling broader international portfolio diversification and overseas investment opportunities.
The two firms also plan to collaborate on AI-powered investment analysis, digital advisory services, and personalized wealth management solutions by combining their technological capabilities and financial expertise.
Founded in 1968 as the Development Bank of Singapore, DBS has grown into one of Asia's largest financial groups. The bank manages approximately KRW 1,069 trillion (around US$780 billion) in total assets, generates annual revenue of about KRW 27 trillion, and had a market capitalization of roughly KRW 190 trillion at the end of last year.
Samsung Securities expects the partnership to improve overseas investment access for Korean clients while making it easier for international investors to participate in the Korean capital market. The company also sees the collaboration as an opportunity to strengthen its competitiveness in the rapidly evolving global wealth management industry through AI and digital innovation.
"By combining Samsung Securities' strengths in Korea's capital markets with DBS' regional and global wealth management platform, we will be able to deliver a more connected and differentiated wealth management experience for our clients," said Park Jong-moon, President and CEO of Samsung Securities. "We also expect this partnership to further strengthen Korea's position as a key hub in Asia's wealth management ecosystem."
