CJ CheilJedang is stepping up its global expansion in food seasoning ingredients by establishing a new technical hub in Singapore, aiming to work more closely with overseas customers and accelerate growth in the Asia-Pacific market.
The Korean food company said on Sept. 7 that it has opened a Global Technical Center at Singapore’s Biopolis research complex. The facility is the company’s fourth global technical center, following sites in South Korea, Chicago in the United States and Wageningen in the Netherlands.
The center is designed to help customers develop food products using CJ CheilJedang’s seasoning ingredients, including TasteNrich, CJ TIDE and Add-Mi nucleotide solutions. By testing the ingredients in different food applications and developing customized formulations, the company plans to support customers from product development through commercialization.
Singapore will serve as a regional base for technical support across the Asia-Pacific region. CJ CheilJedang plans to use the facility to expand technical exchanges and joint development projects with major customers in Singapore and neighboring countries, with a particular focus on its premium seasoning ingredient TasteNrich.
The move reflects a broader shift in the global food-ingredient industry, where suppliers are increasingly competing not only on product performance but also on their ability to provide application technology and customized solutions. As food manufacturers seek products that deliver both taste and health benefits, localized technical support has become an increasingly important factor in winning and retaining customers.
CJ CheilJedang held an opening ceremony at the center on Sept. 1, attended by officials from Singapore’s Economic Development Board and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Singapore. From Sept. 2 to 4, the company also invited major customers from across the region to introduce its seasoning and nutritional ingredients and demonstrate various food applications.
TasteNrich is one of CJ CheilJedang’s key products in the global seasoning ingredients business. Developed using the company’s microbial fermentation technology, the next-generation natural seasoning ingredient is produced by fermenting naturally derived materials such as sugarcane without artificial additives.
When applied to food products, TasteNrich can help maintain flavor quality while reducing sodium or other additives. CJ CheilJedang is expanding the product’s portfolio to provide customized taste solutions tailored to the needs of individual customers.
The company said the Singapore center will strengthen collaboration with Asia-Pacific customers and help expand sales of its seasoning ingredients in the region.
“Through the Singapore Global Technical Center, we are now able to work more closely with customers across the Asia-Pacific region,” a CJ CheilJedang official said. “We will provide solutions that meet both health and taste requirements based on our differentiated technologies and products.”
