Hanwha Aerospace said Friday it signed a follow-on contract with Finland’s Ministry of Defence to supply 112 additional K9 self-propelled howitzers and spare parts in a deal worth about €546 million.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2028, the company said. Finland first ordered the K9 system in 2017 and has since added to its fleet through follow-on purchases.
With the latest order, Finland is set to become the third K9 operator with more than 200 units in service, after Türkiye and Poland. The additional systems are expected to be integrated into Finland’s existing artillery structure, where the K9 has already been in operation for several years.
The K9 is a 155mm/52-caliber self-propelled howitzer with a range of more than 40 kilometers. Hanwha Aerospace said the platform has been delivered to 10 countries, including six NATO members: Türkiye, Poland, Norway, Finland, Estonia, and Romania.
The agreement adds to a series of defense deals between Hanwha Aerospace and European countries, particularly in Northern Europe, where the company has expanded equipment supply and support relationships.
